The Bamboos
Fever In The Road

Band leader Lance Ferguson once again enlisted John Castle (Washington, Josh Pyke, Gossling, Pez and Kate Miller-Heidke) to co-produce this, the band’s sixth record and first on Ferguson’s own label.

This repeats the same winning combination that worked on the band’s breakthrough 2012 album Medicine Man, which garnered them three ARIA Award nominations

Amid a glut of revivalists re-treading the retro waters, The Bamboos have carved out a signature sound that embraces classic and current influences whilst weaving them into something altogether unique.

ILLY
Cinematic

“I decided on the title Cinematic because the album plays like a movie and is true to a vision,” says Illy of the new release. “This will be my fourth album in five years; I’ve learned a lot and directed this experience into Cinematic. The concepts are tighter, the hooks are more finessed and the beats are off the chart!”

Cinematic was recorded over the past year at Executive Producer M-Phazes’ (Kimbra, Bliss N Eso) Melbourne studio. Jan Skubiszewski (Way of the Eagle, Jackson Jackson), Styalz Fuego (360) and Cam Bluff have also contributed to the production of the album which features guest appearances from Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather and Kira Puru.

Cinematic marks the first release on Illy’s own label ONETWO, which is a joint venture with his long-standing management company UNIFIED. ONETWO will be announcing further acts shortly as part of the label

Cinematic is out November 8th  2013  through OneTwo

Oscar Lush
The World Is Round So I’ll Go Round

The 10 track independent release is drastically reminiscent of the late and great Johnny Cash’s deep baritone greeted by Dylan’s wailing harmonica rolled into a delivery ultimately intense as Jeff Buckley.

Opening track I Dreamt Of My Brother Dying sets the stone-cold pace for the record, tear dropping harmonics and a blue acoustic guitar greet Lush’s folk telling’s ‘son your brother is sick, its time you come home’. A bone-chilling testament for what The World Is Round So I’ll Go Round has in store.

This record emits a matter of utmost professionalism and experience, it’s almost impossible to fathom that this is Lush’s debut full-length release.

The World Is Round So I’ll Go Round is out 20th September 2013 through Oscar Lush.

Tracklisting:

1. I Dreamt Of My Brother Dying
2. On A Train Down By The Sea
3. Started A War
4. I Only Need A God
5. An Uncertain Man
6. I Shall Not Change Come Dawn
7. Once I Was A Child
8. The Vanishing Point
9. A Song For The Lost
10. The Hour’s Getting Late

Surf Dad
Unholy EP

Full of cruisy electronic vibes, new Aussie label Zero Through Nine have announced  Surf Dad’s Unholy EP. With minimal tracks released on Soundcloud over the year, the band have managed to get a few heads nodding with its unique, UK inspired form of garage electronica.

The two brothers hail from Barwon Heads, but also find themselves in the big smoke. Influenced by Four Tet and The Streets, the low-fi sound of Surf Dad can be compared to Portishead – but drawing on almost pop-like influences gives the pair their unique electronic sound.

Unholy EP is available digitally September 23rd, with limited CD release from September 28th via Zero Through Nine.

Tracklisting:

1. Perfect (Intro)
2. Unholy
3. No. 5
4. Mind Reader
