Hiatus Kaiyote Announce Farewell Residency
Fresh from a killer set at Golden Plains 2014, future soul combo Hiatus Kaiyote have announced a residency at Melbourne’s Howler in their native Brunswick. The Grammy-nominated, award-winning four-piece will play four headline shows this May (with special support guests) before embarking overseas for a world tour in anticipation of a new album, the follow-up to their widely hailed Tawk Tomahawk, as keyboardist Simon Mavin confirmed in a Tone Deaf interview late last year.
Signed to Flying Buddha, the Sony imprint of Salaam Remi (who coordinated the link-up with Q-Tip that got them acknowledged by the Grammys), Hiatus Kaiyote’s progressive blend of genre-bending psych-funk has earned them celebrity admirers (Prince, Pharrell, ?uestlove to name a few), a swag of awards, including ‘Best Breakthrough Artist’ at Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards and The Age Music Victoria’s ‘Best Emerging Artist’.
Playing Melbourne’s Howler every Wednesday in May, don’t miss your last chance to see this award-winning act on Aussie soil before they make international tracks. Tickets available from Howler and Moshtix now.
