Following the release of new material from two of New York’s finest examples of  rock royalty earlier this year, The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs have dropped two more teasers of what their upcoming 2013 records will hold.

Since the first announcement of a fifth full length record by the five piece, rumours have run high about what The Strokes will have to offer after their fourth release, Angles, was received with mixed reviews. For the many fans of The Strokes hoping for a return to form with the release of Comedown Machine, due for release March 22nd via Sony (Australia) and RCA Records, the official single for the album “All The Time” is welcome relief.

In contrast to the January release of the unofficial single “One Way Trigger,” which featured an unexpected Casablancas falsetto placed readily over a barrage of new wave synths, “All The Time” could be described as the quintessential Strokes sound.

In pure garage-revivalist fashion, reminiscent of the earlier work by the band heralded as the saviours of guitar rock, the new single features Casablancas’ coarsely spoken vocals mixed in with a catchy garage rock hook and oh-so-cool Nick Valensi guitar solo.

Fellow Big Apple superstars The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have also bought out another short teaser for their forthcoming LP due out on April 16th. Following their run of appearances at the Big Day Out Festival in January and the first preview they dropped for the aforementioned Mosquito, the second teaser is an enchanting and reality bending insight into what the band’s new release will bring. Dropping a YouTube teaser for Mosquito with a short taste of new album cut, ‘Always’.

The highly anticipated fourth album by the Karen O-fronted trio will be the first LP released by the band since 2009’s celebrated and critically acclaimed record It’s Blitz! With production assistance provided by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame and TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, Mosquito has been tagged as one of 2013’s most exciting album releases.

In a recent statement released by the band, the newly platinum blonde sporting Karen O said “We would love for this music to make our fans feeeeel something, for it to stir some shit up inside of them, whatever that may be. So much feeling went into this record, it was the rope ladder thrown down into the ditch for us to climb up and dust ourselves off. I hope others can climb up it too; we’re excited to share the good vibes.”

And as excited as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are about sharing their good vibes, we can’t wait to hear what they and The Strokes are yet to bring to what is set to be another brilliant year for music.

Along with the New Yorkers’ albums, there is an equally strong selection of albums due from other international artists this year, including Fall Out Boy‘s latest, Daft Punk’s long-awaited fourth studio album, their first after switching labels to Columbia RecordsDavid Bowie’s first new album in a decade, and let’s not forget new records due soon from Vampire WeekendBlack Rebel Motorcycle Club, and The Knife’s 98 minute opusShaking The Habitual.

Locally too, there’s a long list of great Australian releases due this year from the likes of Bernard FanningBirds of Tokyothe AMP shortlisted Hermitude, Hilltop Hoods, Airbourne, Boy & Bear, Matt Corby, Super Wild Horses, Washington, Nick Cave & The Bad SeedsThe Drones, a swathe of new material from Pond, and the rich sophomore from Melbourne alt-indie duo Big Scary.
