Kele Okereke, part-time solo act and Bloc Party frontman, has revealed in a recent interview that he is unsure if he is still in the band as he hasn’t been invited by his bandmates to record with them.
In April of this year guitarist Russell Lissack said in an interview that he had begun writing again with Kele and that the band we’re aiming to start recording a new album in September. It is now September and during an interview with NME, Kele admitted to some confusion over his involvement in the new record.
When asked about recording with Bloc Party, Kele replied “I was actually having lunch about three weeks ago, just here on 8th Avenue and I saw somebody walk past and I recognised the haircut, It was Russell. I was like, ‘Hey!’ but he didn’t see me and I followed him around the corner and then I saw Matt, Gordon and Russell all standing outside this rehearsal space. They all went inside.”
He added “I hope I haven’t been fired. I don’t really know what’s going on, because we haven’t really spoken recently and I’m a bit too scared to ask.”
