Since emerging with Guns N’ Roses, SLASH has been one of the world’s most sought after guitarists. Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Quentin Tarantino and so many other fellow icons have sought his services in order to make the good sound great. Critics and fans alike still debate the greatest rock riff of all time with “Sweet Child O’ Mine” consistently taking top honors. Time Magazine placed SLASH second only to Jimi Hendrix amongst the greatest guitarists of all time.
It therefore came as little surprise that when SLASH put out the word about recording an album, the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, Lemmy, Ian Astbury, Andrew Stockdale and others smashed down the studio door to be a part of it. ‘Slash’ (the self titled album) is everything that was ever great about rock music. For all those who will undoubtedly find themselves praying at the Altar O’ Slash.
Speaking of Altars… This week sees the release of the infamous guitarist’s follow-up in the form of Apocalyptic Love, and Slash has ditched the turnstile of vocal collaborators to work exclusively with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge fame. Part of the album was actually mixed in Australia, while Slash made a surprise appearance with Kennedy’s band during their performance at Sydney’s Soundwave.
It seems the living axe legend can’t get enough of Down Under, so when can Australia expect a proper tour?
Sooner than we might think. Thought he originally told Triple M that we should expect him in September or October, during a forthcoming interview with Slash, Tone Deaf confirmed that we can expect him much earlier than that.
“Tone Deaf: Have you got confirmed dates or venues for your Australian visit yet?”
“Slash: I do actually, I have them in front of me.
We’re playing Riverstage in Brisbane on the 23rd of August.
We’re playing the Entertainment Centre in Sydney on August 25th.
We’re playing the Hi-Sense Arena in Melbourne on the 26th.
We’re playing the Tebe… I was just asking someone how to pronounce this. The Thebarton Theatre on August 28th in Adelaide.
And Metro City in Perth on August 30th.
“TD: A full Australian tour. That sounds great.”
“S: Yeah, there’s a couple of New Zealand dates in there as well.”
So there you have it, a full national tour of arena-sized shows for Slash with ‘Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.
