Disappointing news for fans who were looking to “put their hands up” at Reef’s Australian tour.

The recently reformed Glastonbury quartet were set to play dates around the country through June, but a press statement released from the band today announced that all the shows have been cancelled.

The statement from Select Touring, who were to present the nineties rockers, states that “due to a bereavement in the Reef family, it is with great regret that the UK band are cancelling their Australian tour which was set to start on June 1.” Also adding that “there are no plans to reschedule at this point” but that they would be offering fans full refunds “at their point of purchase.”

The news comes only a week later after Gary Stringer, the band’s vocalist, told Tone Deaf in an interview how he was “really looking forward” to their Australian dates.

“I have a lot of time for Australia, I’ve never had a bad vibe there,” he said “We always did well in Australia, we went there three times… I love the Metro Theatre in Sydney”

The press statement also published that “the band would like to extend their apologies to anyone who has purchased a ticket and to thank Select Touring for their understanding at this time.”
