Following a sold out EP launch tour and a European tour with The Temper Trap (whose track ‘Trembling Hands’ Faker recently remixed, as featured in our Tone Deaf mixtape), Melbourne electronica artist Chet Faker is pleased to announce a headline Australian tour in support of his new single ‘Love and Feeling’.

Catch Chet Faker on Friday 3 August at The Bakery in Perth, Saturday 4 August at Mojos in Fremantle, Thursday 16 August at Oxford Art Factory inSydney, Friday 17 August at Trinity Bar in Canberra, Friday 24 August at Cats @ Rocket Bar in Adelaide, Friday 7 September at Revolt in Melbourne, and Friday 14 September at Up Late @ GOMA in Brisbane.

Hailing from the tight-knit disco and house music scene in Melbourne and taking elements from an acoustic past, Chet Faker has carved out a unique style that fuses personal stories of love and loss with an electronica soul that reaches far beyond his homeland. Shrouded in secrecy, hidden behind an alias and disguised by a beard, Chet Faker enjoys mystery. He came to everyone’s attention when his cover of Blackstreet’s classic ‘No Diggity’ hit #1 on Hype Machine. But far from rushing into the limelight, Chet built on the popularity of  ‘No Diggity’ through a series of tracks released online, creating an insatiable hunger from fans for more from this part jazz, part soul and part electronic artist.

Thinking in Textures, out now via Opulent / Remote Control, is an acclaimed debut release from the Melbourne musician. First single ‘Terms and Conditions’ is a gorgeously penned track that has been garnering airplay across the globe – everyone from FBi Radio in Sydney and Triple R in Melbourne to Mary-Anne Hobbs of XFM and Rob Da Bank of BBC Radio 1 in London have been playing the track. New single ‘I’m Into You’ has been picked up bytriple j and BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (UK), who has been playing the track on his Next Hype segment. The track peaked at #1 on Hype Machine, the worldwide indie music aggregator and has had over 160,000 listens on Soundcloud to date.

2012 has been an incredible year for Chet Faker. In March he played stand-out performances at SXSW, including a performance at the Filter Magazine Partyand was touted as a ‘must see’ act by The Austin Chronicle. On 23 March 2012 his debut EP Thinking In Textures was released on Opulent / Remote Control in Australia, on Chess Club Records in the UK and on Downtown Records in the USA to widespread acclaim. Chet went on to sell out his Sydney and Brisbane Thinking in Textures launches and a remarkable three Melbourne launches in April, before taking off to the UK to perform at The Great Escape Festival. Chet went on to perform at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Vivid Live Festival and is currently in the middle of a European tour with The Temper Trap.

Don’t miss Chet Faker at a venue near you in Sydney, Perth, Fremantle, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane this August and September.
