The Falls Music & Arts Festival’s ticket ballot is officially sealed and spinning with the lucky names being drawn as we speak! Results will be revealed tomorrow.
Adding to the excitement and the already impressive line-up; another bunch of great acts has just been announced for Lorne and Marion Bay this December.
There are even more to be announced shortly but those not wanting to miss out on these milestone year celebrations are advised to get in and get tickets now.
Irish lads Two Door Cinema Club were everywhere in 2010/11 with their huge album Tourist History delivering slice after slice of singular pop perfection. Hits like “Undercover Martyn” teamed with the likes of “What You Know” and “I Can Talk” put the trio on our map big time.
One of the world’s greatest rock bands The Hives are stubborn, colourful, sly, brilliant and so damn well loved they have every crowd they play to eating from the palm of their collective hands. If you haven’t seen them live yet, man are you in for a treat.
For her first ever trip to our continent, we welcome the irrepressible Sharon Van Etten. Singer, songwriter, collaborator and incredibly captivating performer, Van Etten is nothing short of indie rock royalty.
Django Django are much like a slow-brewed musical stew with a delicious blend of layered synths and electronic loops, which they’ve showcased brilliantly in their 2012 self-titled debut album. Delivering hits like “Default” and “Storm”, these dudes certainly know how to bring the jam!
After reaching almost every achievement in Australian music with sister Julia, where else is there to go? For a Sydney lad like Angus Stone, the only logical place is back to work. The results of which are on display with his second solo record Broken Brights.
Ball Park Music. You know them already from their multitude of singles released last year off their ubiquitous debut album Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs. You’ve most definitely tapped your foot to one of their tunes in the last 18 months – “iFly”, “Sad Rude Future Dude”, “All I Want Is You” – the list goes on.
The word “sweetheart” gets thrown around a lot these days. Everyone is a sweetheart. My Nan is a sweetheart. Your cat is a sweetheart. Lisa Mitchell though, truly is Australia’s sweetheart.
It would be pretty tough to have had a better year than Matt Corby. The release of his single “Brother” was accompanied by the sound of a popularity bomb going off. He’s been selling out every venue in the country; and placing at number three (with a bullet) in the triple j Hottest 100.
Quickly becoming the go to guys when it comes to bouncy forest rock; Sydney-siders Jinja Safari have been riding a wave of good vibes since their debut single “Peter Pan” hit airwaves all the way back in 2010.Cosmo Jarvis’ “Gay Pirates” tells a ye olde tale of… well… a couple of gay pirates. The song has become a cult hit amongst fans of indie folk. So much so that it managed to chart at number 85 in last year’s triple j Hottest 100.
As a man with more strings to his bow than Robin Hood, more miles clocked up than Jack Kerouac and more records than The Rolling Stones (well… not quite but someday hopefully), you’d think Ash Grunwald would be keen for a bit of rest and relaxation by now. We’ll make it easy then – No deal!

It’s hard to stand out in the world of independent music today but Willis Earl Beal has a knack for the unconventional. His unorthodox promotional strategies got him noticed but his ability to take lo-fi to a new high is what’s kept him around. Describing himself as wanting to be a black Tom Waits, his debut album Acousmatic Sorcery is possibly the most peculiar album you’ll hear this year but is also definitely the most satisfying.
