Brisbane’s bizarre BAM Festival has hit back at the shitcanning they’ve received from a number of music websites – both in articles and in forum discussions – over the way they are planning to run a festival outside Brisbane in October.
We were one of those sites and the latest media release they’ve sent out – including not blind copying the several hundred email addresses they’ve sent it to – doesn’t do anything to change what we’ve said.
While their presser addresses most of the issues raised, such as artists being effectively made to pay to play, charging massive camping and entry fees for a bunch of bands nobody has heard of and ‘encouraging’ artists to sell tickets to the festival; it doesn’t actually answer any of the questions raised – indeed the answers are a study in the art of being vague.
We wish you well kids, but remember the old maxim: start small, build up a good name and reputation and then once you’ve done that, you can put the festival on and the bands and artists will come to you, Field of Dreams stylez.
