Following the initial announcement of acts for this December’s Meredith Music Festival, including the likes of British rock hedonists Primal Scream, the symphonic space rock of Spiritualized and pop futurist Grimes – this morning Aunty Meredith has announced a few more acts to what is an already eclectically delicious lineup.

With Perth cosmonauts Pond already on the lineup, it may not be such a surprise to learn that leading the pack is Kevin Parker and his loyal space cadets, TAME IMAPALA, who are currently touring their psychelicious second album, Lonerism (Tone Deaf’s current Album of the Week) and enjoying touring with Parklife 2012. Our reviewer called their hometown performance for Parklife in Perth, one that was “not easily rivalled… these kids have some serious skills that just prove why they are so popular, especially in their live sets.

You can find out for yourself come December, when Tame Impala return to the Meredith Amphitheatre for the first time since 2008, with Aunty Meredith teasing that “they’ll be on much later than 11am this time.”

Next on the last round of acts is iconic electronic act ITCH-E And SRATCH-E, aka Paul Mac and Andy Rantzen, who will be following on from their 2010 activity to deliver a makeshift dancefloor to the Meredith masses.

Fresh from their addition to this year’s Harvest lineup, playing the first of the two dates in Melbourne, THE MURLOCS will also be joining the fun. The five-piece will no doubt bring the swampy sounds of their Tee Pee EP (which gets the Tone Deaf verdict here) to punters, bringing a bit of well-placed harmonica among some scuzzy guitars and vital energy.

Rounding out the bill is Melbourne’s newest future soul stars HIATUS KAIYOTE, recent Sugar Mountain additions BOOMGATES, and a VJ show from the one and only DJ FLAGRANT for the Saturday night of the festival.

Assuming you’ve already made good on the Meredith Festival 2012 ballot, these acts will simply be the cherry on top of an amazing lineup. If not, then unfortunately you’re out of luck as the festival has already sold out.

All the more reason to get yourself prepped for Aunty Meredith’s other key event on the music calendar, Golden Plains, which late last week announced that it would be bringing Chan Marshall, better known as Cat Power, out for the festival in March 2013.

The lucky seven ballot for Golden Plains is now open, so click your sticky fingers on www.goldenplains.com.au. All are welcome – the ballot is free and open to all comers.
