There’s only a week or more until Australia’s biggest heavy and hardcore music festival kicks off at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds on Saturday 23rd February, and while Soundwave had already released the timetables for the Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne legs, event organisers have released new timetables to alleviate some of the clashes.
Following what festival boss and serial twitterer AJ Maddah calls ‘#Whingefest2013’, the new Soundwave timetables have attempted to correct some of the timetabling, providing some more overlap. Specifically between post-hardcore acts Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens, meaning that Kellin Quinn from the latter can join the former band for their collaboration ‘King For A Day’.
While over in Melbourne and Adelaide, Big Four fans are going to have to leave the main stage to catch Slayer, who have swapped stages with A Perfect Circle, and Bring Me The Horizon and The Amity Affliction have swapped sets also.
The biggest concern fans had however, the fact that Metallica, Blink 182, and The Offspring were playing at the same time in the initial Sydney and Brisbane timetables, has remained unchanged. AJ Maddah has explained that the clash is unavoidable given that the Blink 182 have requested to play later in the day so that they can present their light show at the cover of dark.
Though fans wishing to catch Enema Of The State and Master Of Puppets will be disappointed, fans over in Perth will be happy to receive their timetable for the first time, and as reported yesterday, there is also a 10pm curfew on the Perth leg held at the Claremont Showgrounds due to a single noise complaint over last year’s edition; combined with the local Town of Claremont council’s continued grievances with music festivals and their ‘unwelcome’ punters in the area.
