Tickets to Australia’s biggest winter music festival, Splendour In The Grass went on sale this morning, and as ravenous festival-goers stormed the online box office, organisers advised that all 3 day, single day, and camping tickets to the 2013 event, taking place Friday 26 to Sunday 28 July at the new permanent site at North Byron Parklands in Yelgun had completely sold out.

The system laboured a little under the unprecedented demand for tickets, and even with the increased capacity this year – thanks to the new 660 acres of Yelgun parkland 25km north of Byron –  all single and three days tickets sold out in under an hour, with a limited number of Country Club VIP tickets still available, but also selling fast.

To help satiate the many festival fans who missed out in the rush for Splendour tickets, Splendour organisers and promoters Secret Sounds have decided to release the list of bands who will be playing special Splendour sideshows to complement the three-day weekend event this coming July.

There is a catch – no official dates, locations, or venues have yet been revealed – but aside from that, the full list takes a juicy chunk from Splendour’s mammoth, 77-strong bill to confirm a healthy list of bands and artists hitting venues around the country, sans of course the exclusive slots from Mumford & Sons, The National, and TV On The Radio.

The official list of Splendour sideshows are (drum roll, please): British post-dubstep star James Blake, English garage heroes Palma Violets, neo-punk act FidlarUK singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, emerging Cali sisters HAIM, female rock duo Deap Vally, art-pop enthusiasts Everything Everything, New York synthpopsters MS MR, and evocative indie trio Daughter.

Full details will be announced by Secret Sounds on Monday, and keep your peeled as there’s bound to be more Splendour Sideshow announcements as they happen – still nine Official sideshows is not a bad start.

“What a perfect start for Splendour at our new home, North Byron Parklands! Our housewarming party is going to be awesome. Please don’t bring a pot plant!” said Event Producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco following this morning’s sell-out announcement.

The 2013 lineup was officially announced last week after many  leaks, rumours, the speculation, much to the delight of music fans everywhere.

Although there were quite a few bands and artsist we knew were going to appear on the bill (looking at you The National, The Growl, James Blake, Airbourne, The Polyphonic Spree, and Cold War Kids, Of Monsters And Men, Deap Valley and Jake Bugg), there’s still plenty of surprises on the 2013 bill – including a yet-to-be-revealed Mystery Band (who could it be? We’ve got a few hunches…)

Taking place over three days, from Friday 26th July to Sunday 29th July, Splendour returns to its purpose built site at the North Byron Parklands in Yelgun. Organisers have waited and worked for seven years to return to their new permanent residence, 25 kilometres north of Byron, on a massive 660 acres of parkland for all the festival camping delights.
