The organisers of a boutique invite-only music festival are capitalising on their successful five-year run by expanding their festival brand with a New Year’s music event that opens the invitation to a wider market while gifting Victoria with a brand new addition the music festival calendar.

So if you’re looking for an alternative to the newly expanded Falls Festival on a smaller, more intimate scale, then this is your ticket.

The new, three-day, two-night boutique camping festival is called NYE On The Hill and is being launched for the first time this year by the team that has been running the hugely successful invite-only The Hills Are Alive festival, which has – for five years running – grown off the back of its exclusive lineups and ‘friends-of-friends’ policy.

NYE On The Hill be located at the same site, but over the New Year’s period of Monday 30th December through to the afternoon of Wednesday 1st January. The site, simply known as ‘The Farm’ offers “incredibly picturesque site… 10mins from Loch Village, 20mins from Wonthaggi, 95mins from Melbourne” and looks to maintain the same great mood and ethos that gave The Hills Are Alive its stellar reputation.

That includes a killer lineup of emerging live bands and up-and-coming talent that Australia has to offer. The last (semi-secret) Hills Are Alive lineup featured the likes of Vance Joy, Courtney Barnett, Money For Rope, New Navy and more, while previous acts to grace the hill include Alpine, DZ Deathrays, and Saskwatch.

The full lineup details for the inaugural NYE On The Hill will be revealed on Sunday 11th August and general public tickets go on sale the following week on Sunday 19th August, but pre-registrations for early-bird passes – which are set at $169 for adults – here.

Rumours abound that a benevolent figure known only as ‘The Farmer’ (no relation to Aunty Meredith) has already begun preparations to ensure the first ever NYE On The Hill is filled with great people (and zero party-poopers), or as ‘The Famer’ simply puts it: “freedom to hang out with great people, in an amazing location, listening to awesome live-music.”
