The City And Colour Australian Tour 2013 went on sale at 9am today and already it its beginning to sell out, with tickets already exhausted for shows in Sydney on Sunday 24th November at the State Theatre and in Hobart on Wednesday 4th December at the Theatre Royal.
A second and final show in Hobart on Thursday 5th December is now on sale, and tickets for the already announced second Sydney show on Monday 25th November are selling fast.
The central creative figure at the heart of City and Colour, Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, visited Australia for an intimate two-date stopover in the support of his new album The Hurry and the Harm, with tickets being scooped up mere minutes after they went on sale.
These two very intimate shows were the launch pad for the announcement of City and Colour’s biggest Australian tour to date, playing in in venues varying from intimate 650 capacity theatres to 10,000+ capacity outdoor amphitheatres for a full run of shows presented by Chugg Entertainment, taking in All Ages shows in capital cities and theatres around the country (with the exclusion of Perth which gets an 18+ show at the Belvoir Amphitheatre).

Green has a special connection with Australian audiences, ensuring sold out audiences with each of his subsequent visits, and for this, the City and Colour musician’s ninth tour of Australia, accompanying Green to draw from his four-album strong catalogue will be a brand new backing band featuring Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather), Dante Schwebel (Hacienda, Dan Auerbach), Doug McGregor (The Constantines) and Matt Kelly.

The new live lineup includes some of the musical talent that features on The Hurry And The Harm, a record with a “more mature, sophisticated sound,” according to our Tone Deaf reviewer, ahead of the album debuting at #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart upon release.

The whole evolution of the sound; I think that’s just a total reaction to where I’m at creatively,” Green told Tone Deaf in a recent interview. “This group of songs just happened. The more I played them and the more I worked on them, the more I heard drums and bass and keyboards and strings and harmonies and things like that.”

Opening each night for City and Colour on the November tour will be Melbourne’s Husky. Following nearly two years of touring the world, Husky changed pace this year and spent most of 2013 in the hills behind Melbourne, creating a new album. Their performances with City And Colour will see the debut of much of this brand new work. Husky’s debut album, Forever So, is out now everywhere and their sophomore release is expected early 2014.
