Described as Sydney’s ‘forward-thinking’ dance music festival, OutsideIn has announced that the its first of two dates has sold out.
Tickets to the Saturday 21st September leg of OutsideIn, featuring the international likes of Zomby, Freddie Gibbs, Laurel Halo, and Snakehips, has completely sold out. Tickets are still available from the Factory Theatre for the 2nd All Ages Show on Sunday 22nd September, but are going fast, according to organisers Astral People and Yes Please.
Along with the news that it’s almost completely sold out its 2013 edition, comes the addition of Sydney funk-hop crew Hermitude to the OutsideIn 2013 lineup. The AMP-winning duo will be bringing their futuristic music-making and energetic live to show to the main stage, joining an impressive list of Australian acts including, Cosmo’s Midnight, Wave Racer, Willow Beats, Elizabeth Rose, I’lls, Rainbow Chan, and an all-star tribute to the Avalanches named after their landmark 2001 album Since I Left You.
Hermitude were added to the bill in the wake of US artist Knxwledge pulling out of OutsideIn 2013; “It is with great sadness that we also announce that Knxwledge has cancelled his upcoming Australian tour due to a family emergency,” reads a statement from Yes Please. “The OutsideIn Festival crew wishes him and his family all the best, and we hope to see him back in Australia soon.”
This year’s OutsideIn also began with a fair bit of controversy following the launch of a new music festival from rival Fuzzy which seemed to take a number of liberties from OutsideIn’s platform. Astral People accused Fuzzy of blatantly ripping off their concept, look, and logo for the Listen Out festival, the replacement of the long-running Parklife festival.
Astral People launched OutsideIn festival last year as a boutique electronic music festival featuring the likes of Flume, Smoke DZA, Oliver Tank, and HTRK.
