Ticket-holders for the Meredith Music Festival are only just beginning to get their plans sorted, but right on time, plans for the sister event are here.
The first band of the Golden Plains 2014 lineup has been announced as the ticket ballot for the annual music festival opens today, set to take place at the splendid surrounds of the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre from March 8th to the 10th, 2014.
One of hip hop’s most iconic, important, and influential acts are ready to ‘Bring The Noise’ to Aunty Meredith and her Golden Plains acolytes, as Public Enemy are announced as the first band for the Golden Plains 2014 lineup playing among the golden hues of Autumn.
Having provided over 30 years of socially-soaked, politically-minded hip hop, Public Enemy also provide a sensation-heightening live show, as entertaining as they are informative and inspirational. It will take a nation of millions to hold back MC par excellence Chuck D, his time-keeping sidekick Flavor Flav, along with Professor Griff, DJ Lord and the baNNed from taking over The Sup’ on the Sunday night of Golden Plains Eight.
Along with the exciting news that the purveyors of ‘ferocious soul’ and ‘rap, the black people’s CNN’ (in the words of Chuck D) will be playing the singular stage of the critically acclaimed festival, the ticket ballot opens today, in the time honoured tradition of making things as fair as can be.
Sign up at www.goldenplains.com.au before 12noon on Monday 21 October 2013 (it’s a quick one this year), and follow the prompts.
The Subscriber Ticket Ballot gets first dibs, before the rest go of the Golden Plains tickets go on sale. There’s two draws of the ticket ballot – on or before 23rd October for existing Subscribers and 30th October for newer Subscribers. Ballot winners will then be notified by email of the Golden Code to purchase an online ticket at the box office, with seven days (or until allocation sells out) to purchase a maximum of three tickets.
There’s only the one type of ticket: the full three-day Golden Plains experience (Saturday to Monday with camping and parking) for $319 + $10 (b/f), and a ticket gets you so much more than just three days worth of music from a gloriously eclectic and lovingly selected lineup.
The Meredith integrity remains – same number of people as last year, no commercial sponsors, BYO; plenty of Time and Space for everyone, the No D!ckhe@ds rule, and one stage to ensure you miss nothing and experience everything.
Now entering its eighth year, Golden Plains “has already become the worthiest of companions to Aunty Meredith’s main, year-end event,” as our Tone Deaf reviewers wrote of this year’s Golden Plains Lucky Seven. And what better way to spend the long weekend than in one of the best places on Earth with friends and lovers. The Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre has been natured and nurtured on twenty-two years of knuckled-down know-how, for the singular purpose of hosting Something Uniquely Remarkable.
For Golden Plains it’s set to Premium Mode, bathed in glorious autumnal light, with even more Spacious Space for camping and glamping and everything-ing. There’s many new Hand-selected choice quality curated caterers too. The Sun is like honey on the trees and afternoon goes on all day, the Summer Fool is spent and a giant spike of excitement goes KABLOOEY two-nightly.
Or in the words of Public Enemy’s own Flavor Flav: “YEEEAAAHHH BOOOOOIII!”
