The Fat As Butter 2013 set times have been announce, with organisers releasing the full timetable of the nearly 30 bands and artists playing the festival this Saturday 26th October.
With a lineup featuring international pop-hop stars Gym Class Heroes, as well as an all-star Aussie selection of Bliss N Eso, Matt Corby, The Rubens, and Boy & Bear there’s plenty to enjoy across Fat As Butter 2013’s three stages.
The Fat Stage will see Gym Class Heroes close the evening, warmed up by Aussie hip hop favourites Bliss N Eso. Proceeding them both will be the biggest Aussie bands to hit the Newcastle festival, with British India kickstarting the afternoon before Bluejuice, the Rubens, Matt Corby, and Boy & Bear grace the stage.
Some of the names will clash with the action at the Butter Stage, meaning fans of electro-songbird Owl Eyes will have to split their attention from Gym Class Heores, while the hip hop heads can pass on the folk rock afternoon offerings of the Fat Stage with Dialectrix and Spit Sydndicate. Meanwhile Glass Towers and Battleships will prove why they’re both gaining buzz with their afternoon slots on the Butter Stage.
Between them the Fabio Stage will provide a fine selection of electronica, dance, and DJ sets from the likes of Peking Duk, Kilter, Aston Shuffle DJs, and a closing set from Booka Shade DJs.

Fat As Butter 2013 Set Times
Fat As Butter 2013 attendees will enjoy a full day’s worth of music, albeit without the benefit of the camping grounds, which were scrapped following pressure from local residents last month despite gaining the support and approval of Newcastle Council.
Fat As Butter 2013 was to be the event’s debut as a camping festival, with grounds located near the Newcastle Foreshore providing for 1,500 festival-goers, but promoters pulled the plug on their Camp Shortland site just five weeks out from the event. Festival promoters Mothership Events had advised Council that they “don’t feel they can execute their plans for high level camping in the remaining weeks,” as previously reported, with Mothership’s Brent Lean indicating that punters with camping tickets had been upgraded to VIP and supplied with transport as compensation.
Plans to burn an effigy of Flo Rida at this year’s event were also scrapped. Designed as a ritual and symbolic purging of the international rap star’s blight upon the event ever since his 2011 no-show, which eventually spiralled into a messy court case between the international rapper and former Fat As Butter promoters, Mothership Music, that led to them entering voluntary liquidation.
Due to pressure from “the powers that be”, Fat As Butter eventually called off the decision to burn a totem of Flo Rida at the 2013 edition, but teased: “Oh well,we’ll just have to come up with another crazy idea.”
Festival organisers anticapte that Fat As Butter 2013 to draw a crowd of 18,000 people and around $1.8 million to local economy, according to their original camping application.
