A RÜFÜS Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with the indie dance trio embarking on a huge trek of the country.
The Worlds Within Worlds national Australian tour will kick off a the Coolangatta Hotel on 9th May before moving through Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong, Mandurah, Fremantle, Central Coast, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Wollongong and will finish up with a homecoming show at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney on 21st June.
This year has been good to RÜFÜS. They blew crowds away at this years Falls and Big Day Out festivals, scored three songs in the Hottest 100 (while partying with Flume backstage) and are about to spend March and April touring Europe and the US – the latter American audiences will know them as RÜFÜS DU SOL after a trademark dispute forced a name change upon the Aussie trio.
They’re also performing at SXSW 2014 for their US Tour, as one of a record-breaking 55 Aussie acts hitting the Austin, Texas music industry conference this year.
They then return to Australia in May for their biggest tour to date, and it will also be the last time RÜFÜS will tour their #1, gold selling debut record, Atlas (which tied with The Drones as the second best Aussie Album of 2013 according to Tone Deaf readers), before working on new material.
Excited about their lap of the Aussie map, keyboard player Jon George says, “It was amazing to get the response we did from crowds at Falls and the BDO, we’re really excited to bring everyone something new, so we’re working hard on the live show right now.
Conceptually we want the Worlds Within Worlds tour to amplify the escapist quality of what we tried to create with ATLAS. We don’t want to give too much away, but we’re thinking; beaches, forests, desserts, mountains, ice plains…that’s probably enough. We’re really excited to tour the US and UK for two months knowing we are coming home to some big crowds and a new live show.”
Set to be their last Aussie shows before they relocate to the other side of the atlas to tour and start work on their follow up record in Berlin, George explains,“We’re writing new music individually every day. But we haven’t started working on a second album yet, we want to go somewhere different to facilitate a different writing experience and Berlin is different enough!”
Having sold out their last 17 shows on home turf, tickets are not expected to last long! Joining them on this tour will be good friend and special guest Hayden James.
