Nick Murphy has been pushing himself away from his former persona as Chet Faker for a little while now, and we’re just now beginning to get used to it a little – although he’s not quite at the point where he’s comfortable scrapping the ‘fka Chet Faker’ from his Facebook name just yet.

Neither, for that matter, did Laneway festival, who understandably decided to keep that recognisable former name up there in brackets for his first Australian shows since the switch. A few more live performances like this one (not to mention new features with the likes of Bonobo) and his birth name will have well-and-truly lodged itself between everyone’s ears, with old Chet a distant memory.

Nick recently released this live footage of his single ‘Fear Less’ being performed in London at the O2 Brixton Academy, and it shows just how much he’s changed since his early days of crooning from behind the piano.

By all accounts his set at the Brissy leg of Laneway managed to win over many of the Tame Impala fans who were there early to mark out their spots for Parker & Co, so if you’re heading along to the Adelaide, Freo or Sydney legs this weekend, here’s a taste of what you’re in for.
