Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger opened up a big, messy can of worms when he started taking shots at Slipknot, and since then the whole thing has devolved into one of the weirdest fights in music, reaching new lows of immaturity today with a few choice words: “Captain Ego from Planet Douche”.

The disagreement all kicked off last month when Kroeger took shots at Slipknot, asking them “How good can your music be if you’ve gotta beat each other up onstage, throw up in your own mask every night?”

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor shot back that Kroeger has “a face like a foot”, and in the following days added “I don’t know what the hell planet he’s living on. Apparently it’s Planet Kroeger, and there must be good weed there, cuz he’s an idiot.”

“Chad Kroeger is to rock what KFC is to chicken,” he continued, before Kroeger snapped back by calling Stone Sour “Nickelback Lite”, leading Stone Sour fans to chant “fuck Nickelback” at Stone Sour’s recent gigs.

As Metal Injection reports, while the feud has been getting increasingly bitter, Taylor wants people to know that he doesn’t have an issue with the rest of the band – just Kroeger, who he thinks has a massive ego.

“That just tells you the level of ego you’re dealing with,” Taylor said in an interview with 93.3 WMMR. “And I’ve said this since day one — it’s not the band. Because the band turned around… As soon as that story hit, the band called and apologized. They were, like, ‘It’s not us. We promise. It’s this guy. We don’t…’

“And I had hung out with the band before, and they’re super-cool dudes. So I was, like… Well, I figured it wasn’t them. So I don’t want people holding it against the band, because it’s not them. It’s Captain Ego from Planet Douche.”

It’s hard not to feel like nobody’s going to come out ahead in this one.
