A truly ugly Twitter dispute has erupted between ex-lovers Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill.

Content warning: This article discusses domestic abuse, sexual assault and rape

Nicki Minaj has accused Meek Mill of domestic abuse, while Meek bit back by grilling Nicki about her brother’s recent 25-year sentence for predatory sexual assault and rape.

It apparently all started when Meek bumped into Nicki and her husband Kenneth Petty at Hollywood clothing store Maxfield. Meek – who dated Nicki between 2015-2017 – is accused of giving them a nasty stare down, which led to a heated back and forth.

Meek then liked a since-deleted meme poking fun at Petty, which really cranked things up a notch. On Wednesday Nicki tweeted that Meek is “obsessed” with her and said he shat himself during the Maxfield altercation.

Then things got really ugly

“#TwitterFingers beats women, scared of men,” wrote Nicki in her Instagram story. This compelled Meek to fire shots back at Nicki on Twitter. “Talk about ya brother convicted of rape and you been knew and paid for his lawyer,” he wrote.

Another tweet followed minutes later, this one claiming Nicki “knew [her] brother was raping that little girl,” which Meek says is the reason he “got away from [her]”.

Nicki wasn’t gonna just sit there and take it, though, and her jabs got intensely personal. “You beat your own sister and taped it. Spit on her & taped it,” she wrote. She also took issue with Meek invoking her brother’s case just to get even with her. “Imagine talking about an alleged rape of a child to hurt someone who wasn’t involved just so ppl can dislike me.”

Meek responded by calling Nicki “full of hate” and saying “the whole industry know you full of hate.” He also adopted a more solemn tone to address the public at large. First he denied he hits women, and then he pointed out the ultimately futility of a Twitter feud. (Perhaps just a little late on that one).
