Nine Inch Nails revealed that they were set to go on tour this year with French musician Jehnny Beth. A tour they never ended up announcing due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although the shows have been cancelled, the band have announced that they will be selling the would-be tour shirts to raise funds for local food banks.
“I look forward to the day we can once again safely be in the same space and share the experience of screaming at the top of our lungs at each other,” vocalist Trent Reznor wrote.
“Speaking of which, I suppose I can let you know we HAD a tour booked this fall that continued and expanded Cold and Black and Infinite. @jehnnybeth was coming along with us,” he continued.
“We were excited. I’m bumming myself out right now. The what-could-have-been dates are below and we had some merch for that tour in production that we’re putting in the store with all of NIN’s profits going to local food banks in the cities we were going to play.”
You can pick up an item of would-have-been tour merch here. We can’t even fathom how much a vintage reseller on Etsy will attempt to sell one of the coronavirus-cancelled Nine Inch Nails tour shirts in 20 years time.’
Whilst we’re yearning for the all-encompassing experience of seeing Nine Inch Nails live, we can take solace in the knowledge that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have grand plans to spend the rest of the year chipping away at new NIN music.
Reznor revealed that he’s been spending time in isolation knuckling down on scoring projects, once he’s finished those he’ll be set to “deep dive into new NIN material.”
