Paris Jackson, the daughter of pop icon Michael Jackson, has revealed she never had the honour of going to her high school prom, missing it in favour of a Metallica gig.

Throughout their entire lives, Prince and Paris Jackson have endured plenty of scrutiny thanks in part to the eccentric behaviour of their legendary father.

With a parent who was one of the most famous musicians of all-time, it’s not too farfetched to imagine that their childhood was far from normal. While we saw notable incidents in the media, just imagine what went on behind the scenes, and how much of the normal teenage experience they missed.

Now, a brief interview with Paris Jackson has seen the 21-year-old reveal that she never attended her high school prom, ditching the event in favour of seeing Metallica performing live.

Interviewed by Vogue ahead of the 60 Years Of Motown event earlier this month, Paris and Prince find themselves discussing the topic, with the latter revealing he’s slowly running out of music to listen to.

As Paris notes that she’s got plenty of playlists she could share with him, Prince clarifies that he’s recently begun listening to the newly-reunited Mötley Crüe.

“I know you weren’t a huge fan when I was going through my insane phase,” Paris added, “but now you’re really getting into all the rock ‘n’ roll bands that I love.”

Soon after, the clip shows Paris Jackson trying on a dress, adding that it’s exactly the sort of dress she would have worn to her high school prom, had she not ducked out for a thrash metal gig.

“This is my second dress and I feel like a princess,” she explained. “I never actually went to prom. I skipped it to go see Metallica, so this feels nice.”

In related news, Aussie metalheads were undoubtedly devastated recently to learn that the highly-anticipated local tour from Metallica would not be going ahead as planned.

Originally slated to kick off last month, the band revealed that their upcoming dates would be postponed while frontman James Hetfield entered a treatment program in order to confront his struggles with addiction.

At this stage, there’s no word as to when these dates will be rescheduled, though proposed tourmates Slipknot say they’re hoping to bring their live show down to Australia regardless at a similarly undetermined date.
