Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective have announced the third and final album of their Perfect Vision trilogy. The record, titled Peradam, is set to arrive on September 4th.

The creative partnership between Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective spends back to 2016, with their record Killer Road — a tribute to German songwriter Nico.

In 2019, the creative minds followed it up with the first two instalments of the Perfect Vision trilogy: Peyote Dance, honouring Antonin Artaud, and Mummer Love, inspired by Rimbaud. Peradam will draw influence from French metaphysical novelist René Daumal.

Daumal’s most revered work, Mount Analogue: A Novel Of Symbolically Authentic Non-Euclidean Adventures In Mountain Climbing, see’s the novelist compare the meaning of life to an alpine ascent.

Peradam borrows its title from a “magnificent curved crystal”, which is symbolic of something of value that can only be found by looking for it.

“I would not speak of the mountain,” Smith sings over the title track. ‘Peradam’ is brimming with quotes from the novel such as, “Its summit must be inaccessible, but its base accessible to human beings,” and “It must exist geographically. The gateway to the invisible must be visible.”

The record will feature contributions from Charlotte Gainsbourg, Anoushka Shankar, and Tenzin Choegyal.

Earlier this month it was announced that Patti Smith and Her Band, alongside Bon Iver and Jimmy Barnes are set to headline the first of several line-up announces for Bluesfest, which will proceed next Easter from April 1st through 5th in Byron Bay.

Patti Smith and her Band were scheduled to appear at the 2020 instalment of Bluesfest Festival, but unfortunately coronavirus had other plans and the festival was forced to cancel for the first time in its 30-year history.

Smith’s 2017 visit to Australia was slated to be her last, but we’re so grateful that it wasn’t.

“Bluesfest 2021 will be much more than the music on stage and the wonderful audience along with all those who present it,” shared festival director Peter Noble. “It will be an integral part of the return of the live music industry.”
