Paul McCartney‘s children’s novel, High in the Clouds, is set to be adapted into an animated Netflix film. The film will be directed by Oscar nominee Timothy Reckhart (Head Over Heels), and the screenplay will be penned by Jon Croker — who worked on the best film Millenium, Paddington,

The film will tell the tale of “an imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.”

It will feature “seven or eight” new songs by McCartney — penned specifically for the film. One of the tracks features Lady Gaga.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix,” McCartney shared. “They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”

High in the Clouds was released back in 2005. McCartney released his debut illustrated children’s novel Hey Grandude! back in December.

In related news, last month McCartney released two new songs, ‘Home Tonight’ and ‘In a Hurry’. The songs were recorded during the sessions that birthed his seventeenth studio album, Egypt Station. Next year, McCartney will headline Glastonbury, earning the title of the oldest headliner in the festival’s history.
