In the mid-1990s, the US-led punk rock explosion was at its zenith and Pennywise were at the forefront of the charge. With their 1995 album About Time, the band encapsulated the Southern Californian melodic hardcore sound that would spawn a generation of new bands.

The album was a two-pronged assault by world renowned producer, Jerry Finn (Rancid, Green Day, Blink 182) and Epitaph/Bad Religion founder Brett Gurewitz, who harnessed Pennywise’s vital sound to set the standard for what punk rock should be from that moment on.

The album, which has achieved Gold status in Australia, was packed with inspiring songs of positivity and hope like ‘Every Single Day’ and ‘Try’, in addition to scathing political social commentary, capturing a tumultuous but unforgettable era in the culture.

After 27 years of PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), Pennywise are set to return to Australia this September with longtime friends Anti-Flag, to play extensively from About Time as well as their latest album, 2014’s Yesterdays, which features re-recordings of some of Pennywise’s earliest songs.
