Music fans in Western Australia aren’t exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to music festivals, and the cancellation of the Perth-based On The Bright Side Festival earlier this year – set to feature Splendour In The Grass acts – certainly didn’t help matters; but it seems things are on the up-swing again.
Following the recent announcements that Southbound 2013 would indeed be going ahead, along with the unveiling of the brand new “This Is Nowhere” Festival with an eclectic underground lineup including Tortoise, Xiu Xiu, Grails and Beach Fossils; we can now add the triumphant return of the Rock-It Festival to the 2012 calendar.
Perth’s Rock-It Festival has been an on-again/off-again event since its inception in 1999, but after three years in hibernation, organisers have now confirmed it’ll be making a comeback this October with the first round announcement of the Festival lineup.
FasterLouder reports that dynamic garage rock duo The Black Keys will be headlining, and joining the Van Halen-scorning, Pizza Hut-suing act on the bill is a healthy dose of big-name Australian acts including John Butler Trio, Birds of Tokyo, The Panics, Lanie Lane and QMA nominees: Last Dinosaurs. Rounding out the rock antics will be Perth locals San Cisco, Royal Headache, The Kill Devil Hills, Graveyard Train, Abbe May and Melbourne’s Emperors.
To be held at Joondalup Arena on Sunday 28th October, tickets for Rock-It Festival 2012 will go on sale May 4, with more additions to the lineup to be announced in the coming weeks.
