Perth’s Radio 6PR are set to auction of their entire vinyl collection to raise money for the victims of the South West bush fires, WA Today reports.

Much of the 5,000-piece collection dates back to when the station was more music-focused, before it switched to its current talkback format.

More than 5,000 records will go on sale in the car park of the 6PR studios, at 169 Hay Street in East Perth, with all proceeds going to the Waroona Bushfire Appeal.

The whole thing kicks off Saturday, 23rd January from 8am to 12 midday. “Come down and grab a bargain,” organisers are urging avid record collectors.

Considering the age of the record collection and the source, there will no doubt be plenty of rare cuts that would make a respectable addition to any record collection.

As WA Today reports, last week’s fires claimed the lives of two Yarloop residents, destroyed more than 160 houses, and burnt through 71,000 hectares of bushland.
