When it comes to bands who describe themselves as a rock group of any variety, there is often a crucial mistake made. That mistake generally comes from a distinct lack of emotion and soulfulness in their music, and can often lead to a song feeling somewhat bland, and unexciting. When it comes to a band like The Sea Gypsies however, this is an issue which they will never face for even a second.
The Central Coast quintet have been kicking around for a little while now, making some immensely good tunes that manage to capture a vibe rooted in indie rock and reggae. Their humble approach to songwriting translates well into their sound, providing the listener with upbeat yet relaxed vibes, whilst maintaining a relatable feeling within their music, making it feel like their songs are sung by an old friend, rather than a Central Coast rock group.
This is exactly the case of the group’s newest single ‘Demons’. The mesmerising track is a powerful, soulful snapshot of the group’s musical abilities. Showing off the accomplished musicianship of every member, this emotive, chilled out track manages to express the relatable feeling of facing one’s fears, and fighting back from what may try to bring you down.
The only downside to The Sea Gypsies’ ‘Demons’ is that it leaves you wanting so much more by the time it’s all over. Thankfully though, the group will be embarking on some live dates later in the year. So be sure to catch them when they come near you so that you can fully experience this group play one of their highly regarded live shows.
