Sydney indie-pop musician Dom Youdan has just delivered a delight for the senses, serving up a cover of Robert Palmer’s classic anthem ‘Addicted To Love’.

Cast your mind back 33 years, and you might just remember the alluring nature of Robert Palmer’s ‘Addicted To Love’. Serving as the second single from his eighth album, Riptide, the track was a major success, topping the Aussie charts and going on to become a staple of rock radio.

Fast forward a few decades, and Sydney muso Dom Youdan has been making a name for himself as an equally-impressive artist, delivering a number of tracks over the years that feature the same level of undeniable quality.

Now, the two artists have collided in a way you might not have expected, with Youdan sharing his own cover of ‘Addicted To Love’ ahead of its official release this week.

Produced by Hauskey, Youdan takes the classic new wave anthem and strips back the the drum solos, the synths, and guitars, turning it into a haunting, romantic slow-burner that invites you in and doesn’t let you go until the last note fades out.

Of course, tackling such a massive hit is no easy feat, with the difficult task of reimagining the tune not being lost on Youdan, who turns the slick vibe of the original into a hazy soundtrack for anyone going through the motions of a new relationship.

“I wanted to create an altogether new anthem; one that slowly crept up on you and met nostalgia head on,” he explained. “This is my homage to a track that has inspired my artistry, as well as being the soundtrack to many a late night (and very early morning).”

A stunning take on a classic, Dom Youdan’s cover of ‘Addicted To Love’ is officially released on Friday, November 29th, but you can give it a sneaky listen a few days earlier below.
