Sunshine Coast indie-rockers Fight Ibis have returned with their latest single, the psychedelic ‘Red Door’.

Having been on the scene for a couple of years now, Fight Ibis have been kicking goals all over the place. Between being picked to play the Big Pineapple Music Festival through triple j Unearthed, being named a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist, and playing slick tunes while they’re at it, the group are well on their way to the big time.

The latest single from their Maddie Had A Caravan EP, ‘Red Door’ is a psych-rock banger that throws down pop sensibilities whilst maintaining that laidback approach that makes the group so enjoyable.

Maddie Had A Caravan is just a mix of old and new material from the past year and a half, mashed together with no real taste or strategy,” explained Fight Ibis singer Kyuss Calamari.

“‘Red Door”s theme and title was stolen (*inspired) from an episode of The IT Crowd, using a metaphor to encompass going against all instincts to go through with an idea you have about something you have no knowledge or experience with, and being too eager to go into the unknown that you just do it and let the journey take you wherever it goes… who invited the lame-o?”

The group are also set to head out on the road next month to launch ‘Red Door’, playing shows alongside Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, RACKETT, and IVY all over the East Coast, before they get ready to release their next EP, Raygun, later this year.

“We are excited, delighted, ignited, farsighted, highlighted, constipated, spotlighted… and you’re all invited… except for you, Boba Fett,” the band explained. “But seriously, keen to get on the road with the new single and EP (finally!) and have some fun.  See you at a show!”
