Ever since they first hit the scene back in 2016, Brisbane’s First Beige have managed to earn a reputation as one of the slickest, most versatile groups around.

Likening themselves to acts such as Jamiroquai, Flying Lotus, Parcels, and Kaytranada, First Beige are undoubtedly one of the most euphoric groups on the scene, with their exuberant, unbridled passion shining through on every one of their compositions.

Having released a couple of singles this year, including the stunning ‘Desire’, the Brisbane six-piece managed to astound folks even more thanks to a few huge sets at BIGSOUND, before hitting the road for a co-headline tour with Perth crew Demon Days.

Now though, the group are set to release their latest EP – Mirrors – on Thursday, and they’ve been kind enough to give you a sneak peek one day early.

Taking clear inspiration from the world of dance music, First Beige deliver stunning upbeat, jazz-influenced tunes that are designed to get fans around the country up and moving. According to frontman David Versace though, this had been the goal since the early days of the band.

Mirrors is a dance EP, I’ve become so fascinated by dance grooves and the technicality behind the music,” Versace explains. “The EP came together pretty quickly, we had a bunch of ideas and songs floating around and decided it would be perfect to compile them into an EP.

“We took the demos/ideas in for recording with Sampology and he worked his magic on the production and mixing,” he adds.

“It was so great working with a producer for this EP, I feel like it gives you a lot more space to grow and experiment with the writing process and try things that you wouldn’t have thought of yourself. Hope you enjoy the EP as much as we did making it!”

With infectious, groove-laden jams like opener ‘Attitude’ to the previously-released ‘Desire’, Mirrors is one of those releases that will stick with you for days, reappearing in your mind when you least expect it, and refusing to leave until you’ve kicked off your own private dance party.

If you’re loving what you’re hearing, First Beige will be holding a launch show next month at The Outpost Bar in Brisbane. Check out the EP below, and read on for all the details.
