We’re excited to be today premiering ‘Tidings’ – the rolling, hypnotic first single from Melbourne solo artist Ryan Downey’s upcoming experimental a cappella EP.

A broken arm earlier this year left Ryan unable to play any instruments, halting his plans to begin work on a full length album. What seemed like a setback actually became a fascinating evolution in Downey’s career

During his two months recovery, he indulged a fleeting idea he’d had in the past; of creating a completely a cappella record of songs by female songwriters. He then contributed two originals of his own, ‘Tidings’ being one of them. Check out the impressive effort below and if you like what you’re hearing check out Ryan’s Facebook page for more info.
