One of Australia’s most promising voices has returned again, with Rachel Caddy sharing her heartfelt, soulful new single ‘Trams’.

Having been releasing music for a couple of years now, most fans would’ve fallen in love with Rachel Caddy back in 2017 following the release of singles such as ‘Blue Sky Soda Stream’ prior to sharing her Missing Screws EP the next year.

Gaining widespread acclaim for her masterful compositions and powerful yet vulnerable approach to music, Rachel Caddy was relatively quiet over the last year. Now though, she’s returned with her latest single, sharing the slow-burning ‘Trams’ ahead of its official release this Friday.

An open and honest tune, ‘Trams’ sees Caddy discussing her own experiences in exploring connections and relationships, while showing her own growth that came from these instances.

“I was reflecting on a past break up and I started looking outwards and wondering what the people around me were going through,” Caddy explained of the song, which she notes was written while on a Melbourne tram.

“Being on public transport is a unique experience; you can be right next to someone without making any contact or knowing anything about them. I wanted to reflect on that disconnectedness while also expressing the ache of missing a real connection with someone.”

Another example of why Caddy is being considered one of the finest singer songwriters on the Australian music scene today, ‘Trams’ is one of those songs that continues to grow on you, long after you’ve given it a listen as you find it worming its way back into your head and you start singing the words all over again.
