Melbourne singer-songwriter Sannia is back, offering up the visually-stunning videos to her brand new singles ‘Daylight’ and ‘Better’.

Just over a year ago, Melbourne’s Sannia burst onto the scene with her debut single, ‘Go And Get Over’. A gorgeous listen, the tune showcased her talents as an acclaimed performer, and helped shine a light onto another awesome talent that music-lovers need to hear.

Now, fast-forward to August of 2019, and Sannia has returned, this time with not one, but two new singles, ‘Daylight’ and ‘Better’, and some breathtaking videos to accompany both.

Kicking things off with ‘Daylight’, the tune features some pulsing synths, evoking nostalgic themes while Sannia’s gorgeous lyrics spill out over a slow-burning backing that culminates in a crashing, cathartic closer.

The track’s video, however, is as striking as the tune is beautiful, kicking things off with a smoking, damaged car in a vast expanse, leaving Sannia to leave the chaotic scene in accordance with the music’s uplifting sound.

“I feel like I was most vulnerable in this clip,” Sannia explains. “I was absolutely terrified at first to include choreography in a one-take shot with a very small time frame to get it done was nerve wrecking but I think it’s the clip I’m most proud of.”

While ‘Daylight’ is itself an intriguing, immersive song and clip, the vibes only continue with ‘Better’, which picks up where the former leaves off.

Driven by Sannia’s powerful vocals, which conjure up memories of Meg Mac or Vera Blue, ‘Better’ showcases some swirling synth melodies while an industrial-style drum sound pushes the raw emotion of the tune to the forefront.

With a clip that features two lovers dancing across a sunlit empty house, a field at dusk, and then abruptly finding themselves apart, Sannia says the clip represents the turbulence of a real relationship.

“If there was anything in the world I wish I could do it would be dance, and the first thing I thought of when I imagined a video for this song was two dancers really representing the constantly shifting sands of a turbulent relationship,” Sannia explains.

“Emily [Dynes, Director] managed to get in touch with choreographer Sian Kelly and two incredible dancers (Melissa Yvonne Pham and Ned Zaina) and suddenly this idea I had in my head that I absolutely couldn’t describe with words or my own lack of coordination actually came to life; I was completely blown away by Mel and the emotion she brought to the shoot.”

Undoubtedly serving as an absolutely astounding, and emotionally devastating pair of releases for Sannia, fans can get a chance to celebrate the release of these new tunes as a pair of release shows this September.

Taking place at Fitzroy’s Workers Club and Newtown’s Golden Age Cinema, fans will get a chance to experience the raw beauty of these tracks in a live setting, and will understand why Sannia is on track to be one of the biggest names in Australian music before long.
