Central Coast indie-rockers have just dropped one of the best videos of the year, sharing the surreal clip for ‘Mexico’ today.

For a number of years now, The Sea Gypsies have been entrancing fans all across the country with their majestic mix of indie rock.

With one EP and one album to their name, fans have been hanging out for the release of new music. Now, as the year ends and the group look towards a bright new decade, The Sea Gypsies have shared the video for their latest single, ‘Mexico’.

Recorded at The Grove Studios in Somersby, New South Wales, The Sea Gypsies crafted the single alongside Scott Horscroft (Empire Of The Sun, Silverchair) and Jack Nigro (DZ Deathrays, The Delta Riggs), while taking lyrical influence from singer Luke Marlin’s trip to Mexico which ended in a gnarly bout of Dengue fever.

“Some people say that a holiday changes an individual,” the band noted. “After experiencing Mexico, Luke would agree.”

Pairing the track with a visual aspect, the group have today dropped its official video. Directed by Mitchell Gates (Lumin Gates Visuals), the whimsical clip showcases a surreal dreamlike lucha libre match.

Planting their tongue firmly in cheek, bassist Jackson Bourke explains that the fantastical trip served as a perfect excuse for the band to show off their playful side.

“These guys are my friends; we go surfing together, rip on each other and order Dominos every band practice,” Burke explained. “We’re musicians, not actors, so we thought to ourselves, ‘Why not just have a laugh and shoot a video that we’d enjoy making?”

With ‘Mexico’ set for release on November 15h, The Sea Gypsies will also be taking their live show on the road, kicking off a run of east coast dates in early 2020. Check out all the dates below, and take a look at the stunning video below!
