Victoria’s Queenscliff Music Festival is extending the invite to to fluff up the shagpile, wax up the board and hoon up the highway for its annual surf-coast music festival extravaganza this November. This year the live music event turns sweet sixteen, and has a shining festival bill of Australian talent in its first-round announcement.

Topping the lineup is the inimitable MISSY HIGGINS, currently vibing off her long-awaited return to music with her latest album, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle – playing to Queenscliff Music Festival audiences for the fist ever time. “I’ve been to Queenscliff Music Festival as a punter before,” says the singer/songwriter, “but never actually played, so I’m really excited about performing this November. It’s such a great festval, just the right amount of ‘laid-back’ for my liking,” says Higgins.

Joining her in playing the QMF for the very first time are rock veterans YOU AM I, who are playing their first shows since the start of the year in February; and SOMETHING FOR KATE, which marks their first return shows since cavorting in Dallas, Texas putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled sixth studio album. Their first in six years since 2006’s Desert Lights, and three since bandleader Paul Dempsey was in the solo spotlight for 2009’s Everything Is True. So far their QMF appearance marks the first live dates for the trio.

Joining them will be the always-infectious energy of THE CAT EMPIRE, themselves returning to QMF for the first time since 2003. Internationally renowned, and one of the nation’s most successful touring bands, with a view to releasing a new studio album in March 2013.

Enigmatic Yolngu songman and Rolling Stone’s 2011 ‘Most Important Voice’, GURRUMUL will be enthralling punters with his astonishing performance style. Having just played to the likes of The Queen, Barack Obama and Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark – he’ll be bringing his captivating live show to bear on the seaside festival.

With around 60 acts playing across 5 stages across three sublime days of music entertainment, The Queensland Music Festival, having relocated last year to the new site of Princess Park, marks another great Australian festival to mark in the year-end calendar.
