While the outlook for Queensland’s music scene is uncertain in the wake of the State Government’s plan to introduce NSW-style lockout laws, which have seen several venues in that state shut their doors, the state’s regional music scene was just given a big shot in the arm.
As the Gladstone Observer reports, the region of Gladstone, approximately 550 kilometres out of Brisbane, recently saw the opening of The Live Room, a new live music venue, which will be showcasing up-and-coming bands from the area and from interstate.
“What a great turnout to Opening Night! With a large crowd in attendance and everyone rocking out to some sweet as tunes from our very own Brandon Harrison, local punk rockers Animal Throwdown and Brisbane-based rock outfit We Are Servants,” wrote promoters on YouTube.
“If you missed this awesome night, be sure to check out our summary video and some of the awesome shots from the event.” Readers can check out the clip below, which features appearances from acoustic songwriter Brandon Harrison, local punk rockers Animal Throwdown, and Brisbane’s We Are Servants.
The acts played before a packed-out crowd and venue owner Anthony Breed couldn’t have been more enthused by the turnout and reaction from punters, promising the Gladstone Observer that the venue was “only going to get better” with the many future events planned.
