Aussie rock titans AC/DC have been the airwaves a lot over the past couple of months, having recently released their 16th studio record Rock Or Bust, as well as a rather questionable video clip for the single ‘Play Ball‘, not to mention the on-going bizarre case of drummer Phil Rudd hiring hitmen to murder people, it’s fair to say there’s plenty of Acker Dacker talk that hasn’t all been roses.
Despite all the rubbish circulating the band, we today thankfully have some pretty rad AC/DC related news (of sorts). Courtesy of the wonderful world that is the internet, a video of the legendary band has begun making its way around interwebs, with the publisher claiming that it’s the first known video recording of the band performing live.
Yep, we kid you not, thanks to Open Culture (via A Journal Of Music Things) a black and white 7-minute video uploaded in February this year by user Javier Hernández believes that the footage was filmed at St. Albans high school on March 3rd 1976, a time in which the band had not completely broken through into international stardom.
The vid itself is fairly astounding shot from the side and behind the band as the late and great Bon Scott in his criminally tight jeans tears through the iconic ‘It’s A Long Way To The Top’ as well as giving the bagpies a good old crack.
What’s even funnier is that Angus is not decked-out in his notorious schoolboy attire, suggesting the vid is in fact pretty damn old.
We won’t don’t want to spoil anything further, so take a trip down memory lane, or for us younger ones, journey through history to a time when AC/DC weren’t the performing some the largest stadium shows in the world.
