Devout Big Boi fans will be tested by his recent album, Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumours.

While the album is further proof that the noted rapper is the Dr. Seuss of the hip hop scene (no tongue twister is too twisty for him), the songs are not at all the club bangers many are used to from the rapper

Aside from the filler feeling to a lot of the album, it is also peppered with featured artists  like A$AP Rocky, Ludacris, Big K.R.I.T and, Kelly Rowland to name a few.

The artists are certainly impressive though, aside from Ludacris, don’t provide any memorable verses. The video game sounds and loops get tiring after a while as well, and nearing the album’s end, ‘She Said OK’ is a rather gross waste of a song.

‘In The A’ is the only solid song, with ‘Apple Of My Eye’ following closely behind.

An upbeat car ride is probably closer to the kind of dancing one could do to this album (preferably in a low rider, with some shades on and the windows down).

The real draw card is the album’s theatricality, which is also its saving grace because there is too many spoken word parts that break up the beat.

For some, this is exactly why they love Big Boi, and the asides are very entertaining at least.

Big Boi has most likely spent a lot of his life questioning those who want to get in the way of his good time, and his clever lyrics are a testament to this attitude.
