Richie Sambora has announced an additional last-minute Soundwave 2014 Sideshow, with all proceeds going to charity.
The former Bon Jovi guitarist has already performed at the opening Brisbane and Sydney legs of the rock festival last weekend, as well as a headline sideshow at Brisbane’s Tivoli Theatre, and now Melbourne is getting a chance to catch the American singer-songwriter.
Sambora and special guest Orianthi will perform at Melbourne’s The Espy (which is still up for sale) this Thursday 27th February, with all proceeds from the show going to children’s charity, The Starlight Foundation.
Best known for his role as a founding member of rock veterans Bon Jovi, including penning some of the biggest hits of their 30-year, 130 million in album sales career, Richie Sambora has co-written over 20 Top 40 hits and 11 Top 40 hits, including ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’, ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’, and ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’.
Performing Down Under solo for the first time ever, Australian fans will get to experience the singer-songwriter performing material from his three acclaimed solo albums, 1991’s Stranger in This Town, 1998’s Undiscovered Soul and 2012’s Aftermath of the Lowdown, which spawned the powerful single “Every Road Leads Home To You.”
Joining him onstage will be none other than Australian singer-songwriter and guitar goddess Orianthi, who has worked as lead guitarist to some of the biggest superstars in the world, including Alice Cooper, Michael Jackson.
Richie Sambora, and the rest of the Soundwave 2014 lineup, will hit Melbourne and Adelaide this weekend before the festival wraps up in Perth, at it’s new home at Arena Joondalup.

In related news, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has hinted that the Perth leg could be Soundwave’s first and last at the new site after ongoing battles with Perth’s Claremont Council, while indicating that the annual event would be scaling back to an “East Coast only” festival next year. ”We’re looking at 4 cities,” Maddah recently tweeted of plans for Soundwave 2015 – “I count Adelaide as East Coast.”
