Ryan Adams’ guitarist has now weighed in on the abuse allegations against the rocker, labelling Adams a “monster” in a new statement.

Over the last week, a number of women have come forward to accuse American musician Ryan Adams of sexual and emotional abuse.

In a report initially published in The New York Times, statements were included from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Courtney Jaye, and Adams’ ex-wife Mandy Moore.

Likewise, the report also made mention of accusations from a 14-year-old girl who claimed that Adams exposed himself to her.

Since then, Adams has had his music pulled from US radio, his upcoming album shelved, and has also seen his tour manager weigh in on the allegations against him.

Now, La Sera guitarist Todd Wisenbaker (who also serves as a guitarist in Ryan Adams’ band), has released his own statement via Instagram, explaining that he had previously attempted to get Adams to seek help.

“There were times when I chose to believe his insane version of the truth because it was easier than believing that anyone is capable of being this much of a monster,” Wisenbaker explained. “It’s sickening and embarrassing.”

“I’ve recently learned that pretty much everything he’s ever told me is a lie upon a lie upon a lie. There are excuses and denials for everything.”

“Some time ago I told him to get help and he asked me to help him.” Wisenbaker continued.

“I don’t regret and will never regret trying to help someone in real need- I believe in forgiveness, redemption and recovery, but my life has become a complete shitstorm of someone else’s utter delusion.”

“I didn’t want to say anything because I’m actively afraid for the safety of my family, but I do realize that I have a responsibility to speak up. The women that spoke out are brave beyond words.”

Ryan Adams has remained silent since the allegations surfaced, though he took to Twitter to apologise to “anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally,” adding that “I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage.”
