After 10 years, four albums, and countless live shows around the world, Melbourne indie-soul band Saskwatch have announced they’re calling it quits, announcing their final show today.

Ever since Saskwatch formed over a decade ago, they’ve been one of the most exciting groups in Australian music.

Famously discovered by DJ Vince Peach while playing the streets of Melbourne, the band soon found themselves performing at Cherry Bar on numerous occasions, where they honed their reputation as one of the wildest live bands you’ll see anywhere.

Their debut album followed in 2012, and before long, the group found themselves playing the likes of Glastonbury, and making a name for themselves around the world.

Of course, things didn’t stop there, with further records being released, and Saskwatch quickly finding themselves as a staple of the live stage, performing at numerous festivals in Australia, and even managing to crack the US market with a bunch of gigs in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City.

However, if you’d been hoping for a follow-up to 2017’s Manual Override, there’s bad news in the pipeline, with Saskwatch today revealing that they will be hanging up their boots with one final show later this year.

Sharing a statement earlier today, Saskwatch explained that after many years together, the band’s journey is officially coming to an end.

“Hello friends, we’ve decided to hang up the boots as Saskwatch,” they explained. “After 10 years, 4 albums and hundreds of shows together, we feel it’s time to move on.

“Thank you for all your support over the years, to anyone who bought a record, came to a show or just listened to our songs, we feel very grateful for all the opportunities we’ve had.

“It’s not often that you get to be a in a band with your friends for 10 years, to write and record your own music, and to perform and meet people all over the world.”

However, Saskwatch won’t be letting their legacy just fade away, rather, they’ll be going out with a band, having announced their final-ever show today.

Taking place at Melbourne’s Curtin Hotel on Saturday, October 26th, they’ll be accompanied by Jim Lawrie, Ella Thompson, and DJ Chris Gill as they formally say goodbye to their friends and supporters.

Tickets to this final show are on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to see one of Australia’s most beloved live acts on stage for the final time.
