Australia’s first and only drill rappers from Mt. Druitt, ONEFOUR, have taken to Instagram to announce their upcoming show next month, has been shut down by NSW Police.

ONEFOUR have been on the up and up since they first started releasing music. Their song ‘The Message’ has over 3 million views, and has been the focal point of multiple YouTube reaction videos, where people from all across the world are reacting to the group’s unique approach to the game.

The group were set to perform as the main support act for London rapper Octavian for a “Fomo Warm Up Party” on the 14th of August.

However, only a few moments ago, the group took to Instagram to announce that the show has been officially shut down by NSW Police. #ONEFOURLETUSPERFORM has been created as a response.

According to the post, this is the third time that the band has experienced the NSW Police interfering with their shows, allegedly “pressuring” venues to cancel shows.

For what reason, it is still unsure, but it can only be assumed that the police are assuming rap music equals violence like they always do. It’s easy to draw similarities to this performance cancellation, and the troubles that N.W.A. had with the police interfering with them back during the prime of their hit song ‘Fuck the Police’.

On Instagram the group wrote:

“We’re gutted to announce that We won’t be playing the @octavianessie show that was scheduled for next month here in Sydney. In fact, the whole show has been shutdown. This is the third time the NSW Police have pressured the venue we were due to perform at and it’s getting fkn frustrating. They want us to get us off the street, yet they won’t give us a chance to. We’ve played three shows with no problems, yet they’re still trying to shut us down. While we’re trying to work and be productive, they want to flex their authority. We’re hoping we can get through this obstacle soon so we can give the Sydney supporters what they want and that is a ONEFOUR show. Shout out to BBE and to Octavian’s crew for really trying to make this show happen. We appreciate it. Refunds will commence on Monday. #ONEFOURLETUSPERFORM 😤”
