The Scissor Sisters have revealed the artwork for their new album Nightwork and it’s memorable to say the least, featuring a very pert clenched male posterior. Alas for fans of flamboyant front man Jake Shears, it’s not his buns in the photo. It’s a photo by Patti Smith’s former partner, celebrated photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, who took the shot of a Broadway dancer in the 1970s.
Ana Matronic has said of the cover “That’s absolutely not his bum. Everyone is just assuming it is. He’s got a great bum but it’s not that muscley. His cheeks aren’t quite that chiselled.” Fans of the band will be able to get their own take home copy when it’s released on the 28th of June in the US.
