Japanese pop band SEKAI NO OWARI have announced their sixth album, ‘Scent of Memory’, coming out in July 2021.

The band announced the news on their official pages earlier this week, also releasing details about what fans can expect on the album.

Scent of Memory will be available in regular and First Press Limited editions. While the regular edition comes with only a CD, the First Press Limited edition is a two CD and one DVD set. The first disc will contain 12 tracks, including past releases like ‘Silent’, ‘Birdman’, ‘Frequency’, ‘Dropout’, ‘Tears’, and ‘Umbrella.’ The second disc will contain demos of the tracks on the album, although the number of songs on this is as yet undecided.

The accompanying DVD in the First Press Limited Edition will come with music videos for ‘Silent’, ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Birdman’, along with a much awaited sequel to the group’s 2020 documentary series, Holiday Session #1. Titled Holiday Session #2, the film follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, showing the band creating new songs from scratch within a day.

Apart from this, the group is also releasing a limited range of luxury boxed scented candle sets to accompany the album. Each set contains a set of 12 aromatic candles, complementing the 12 songs on the Scent of Memory and further driving the central concept of fragrance home. The boxed set also comes with a CD, with only 10,000 units being sold.

This will be their first album since 2020’s Chameleon, their first international release. Chameleon was originally supposed to drop in 2019 under their English name, End Of The World, accompanying their domestic releases of Eye and Lip. The album’s release was, however, pushed to 2020.
