Let’s be fair, if you have some rare memorabilia of The Beatles, then you’re undoubtedly sitting on a major bundle of cash, no matter what sort of memorabilia it may be. In fact, this has just been proven by the fact a self-portrait of John Lennon depicting himself as Adolf Hitler has just sold for $54,000.

As Spin reports, the ink drawing was created by Lennon while a student at the Liverpool College of Art in the late 1950s, and depicts the musician on a raised podium as a crowd appears to shout “Heil John” from below.

“He drew these when he was a college student, and the fact that he even thought of depicting himself as Hitler is weird,” explained Gary Zimet, president of sale organisers Moments In Time. “Original Lennon drawings are very desirable and they are ultra rare.”

Another drawing by Lennon appears to depict, as Spin notes, the “Third Reich Nuremberg eagle posing above an oval containing Lennon’s initials.

Moments In Time have been known to procure some rather interesting items on occasion. Why, at the moment they have Schindler’s list up for sale, as well as the copy of Double Fantasy that Lennon signed for Mark David Chapman hours before Chapman shot and killed him.
