System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan is gearing up to release a new album soon, and it’s set to feature a bunch of special guests.

Over the last few years, there has been plenty of speculation as to whether or not System Of A Down is going to record a new album. As it stands, the band’s last albums were released back in 2005, with SOAD wrapping up their brief hiatus in 2010.

Throughout 2018, numerous band members went on record to point fingers at the one member holding things up. Despite this, System Of A Down maintain that members are on good terms with each other, while frontman Serj Tankian denied any rumours that new material is set to be recorded and released soon.

Now, it seems we’re about to get the closest thing we’ve seen to new System Of A Down material in a very long time, with drummer John Dolmayan revealing he is set to release a new album with his side project, These Grey Men.

First mentioned back in 2014, These Grey Men initially started off life as a covers project, starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the album and its accompanying tour.

Now, in a recent interview with SOAD Mexico, Dolmayan revealed that the record will be released in the first half of 2019.

“I’m still working on it – it’ll be released within the next four months,” Dolmayan said, noting the mixing process began in December. “All the songs are finished, but we’re in the process of adding strings.”

“There’s some cool artists on it,” he continued. “Serj sang two songs. The Avenged Sevenfold singer – I don’t know if you know Matt, he’s fantastic. Really nice guy, by the way, and he sang a song.”

“I have a bunch of other friends. Tom Morello played guitar on a song. I know it’s been forever, but it will be released.”

While we’re no closer to finally getting a new System Of A Down album, we can at least take solace knowing that half of the band have collaborated on a couple of upcoming songs. Now if we can get the rest of the band involved, we’re all set!
