Simon Cowell is used to judging talent in the room, but when it comes to predictions  of a One Direction reunion, he believes it can happen.

It’s been 6 years since the boy band that came out of X Factor parted ways, and yet the man that brought them all together is optimistic they can join up once more.

Speaking to The Mirror, the music mogul thinks it’s just a case of getting them in the room together.

“I think it will happen. If they got together, whether it’s making records again or touring, it would be the most amazing thing.”

The band announced a hiatus just before embarking on a world tour in 2015, and just after Zayn Malik left the band.

The four remaining guys – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson continued the tour and recorded Made in the AM before they all went on to have solo careers.

Aside from their solo music projects, Harry Styles has completed two films and is shooting another, while Zayn Malik welcomed a baby with partner and model Gigi Hadid.

Styles in particular was norminated for three Grammys  earlier this year, including Best Pop Solo Performance, Music Video and Pop Vocal Album. He won Best Pop Solo Performance with ‘Watermelon Sugar.’

Where would they find the time, and are any band members holding out on a reunion, Cowell was asked.

“I don’t know, to be honest. If I could get into a room with them and just say, ‘You know what, whether it’s six months or something, I think you’d have such a great time’ – maybe I could persuade them.”

He continued. “But I think they should do it, definitely. I would love it to happen. And the fans, of course, would love it.”

You can certainly trust the Directioners on that one, Simon. They’re a loyal bunch.
