triple j has just revealed that legendary historian Sir David Attenborough will feature on Hack with Tom Tilley over two programs airing this week.

In what has been described as “one of his most candid conversations so far”, Attenborough has slammed Prime Minister Scott Morrison for his support of new coal mines, and Australia’s involvement in the current climate crisis.

“You are the keepers of an extraordinary section of the surface of this planet, including the Barrier Reef, and what you say, what you do, really, really matters,” Attenborough shares.

“And then you suddenly say, ‘No it doesn’t matter … it doesn’t matter how much coal we burn … we don’t give a damn what it does to the rest of the world.

“The world is sick, we really have to do things about it. And there’s no more time for argument.”

This is not the first time that Attenborough has voiced his grievance over the way that Australian politicians have approached climate change. In July this year, the conservationist sat down with British Lawmakers and condemned the Australian government for their lack of action.

“I am sorry that there are people who are in power, internationally, notably, of course, the United States but also in Australia, which is extraordinary actually because Australia is already facing having to deal with some of the most extreme manifestations of climate change”

Hack is set to air their interview with David Attenborough over two programs from 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 24th and 5:30pm on Wednesday, September 25th. If you miss out, you can stream the interview on the Hack podcast after it airs.

Additionally, the interview is set to show on ABC’s 730 at 7:30 pm Tues 24 Sept.
